Sutherland Wins Vice Captain Elections

Tim Sutherland
Team Rookie Tim Sutherland was this morning appointed the new vice captain and team treasurer of Mainstream Cricket.
After a close fought battle with Brett “Nelson” Bothma , Sutherlands public support in the crucial Ponsonby electorate proved to be the crucial seat to swing the votes his way. Bothma having led the polls since they opened last week seemed a certainty to win, however recent revelations in his connections to the infamous Robert Mugabe brought widespread condemnation from fellow Mainstream Players.

Bothma said to have links with Mugabe
Sutherland the leader of Auckland Young Gay Rights was detained by police for 48 eight hours last weekend amid ominous signs that Bothma supporters were trying to tightening Bothma’s grip on Mainstream less than 48 hours before the Vice Captain run-off election. “ “I am simply overwhelmed darling” Sutherland said “Mainstream have said enough is enough and I promise to thank each and everyone of my supporters personally”
Timothy Sutherland, just 17, who returned only just 12 days ago from a self imposed 6 week exile in Fiji amid fears he was the target of a military assassination plot, to face Bothma in the June 5th run-off, was held with about 4 others from his Movement for More Beer at a police station north of Auckland before being released late yesterday after human rights group Amnesty International intervention. No charges were filed against him
Among those who had been held with Sutherland were the party's propaganda spokesman Simon McGrath, Minister of food and alcohol Paul Smith and newly appointed Defence minister Bruce Morrish. They were stopped by police at a roadblock while returning from campaigning in towns north of Whangarei , according to Sutherlands media liaison officer Mike McClean.
Sutherlands detention had been condemned by the United States, Britain, Germany and China at the recent UN summit in Rome.
McClean, says “Bothma was determined to turn the whole team into a war zone in order to subvert the will of the Mainstream and steal the June 5th election by any means possible,'' Sutherland had survived at least three assassination attempts prior to the election including the infamous Mainstream fishing trip of 2008 ,when Bothma sympathizer’s Brooke and Scott tried to throw him overboard and use him as live bait.
Last year, Sutherland was hospitalized after a brutal assault by police at the Ponsonby Hero Parade. Images seen around the world of his bruised and swollen face have come to symbolize the plight of Mainstream.
Independent human rights groups say opposition supporters have been beaten and killed by Bothma loyalists to ensure the 84-year-old Bothma, remained in power since the formation of Mainstream in 2006

Bothma
Bothma, having led the polls since last year for campaigning for racial reconciliation and promises of lower taxes on Alcohol and cigerretes and the removal of GST from the Mainstream fines A sure vote winner for Mainstreamians especially the younger ones, but in recent months, he has been accused of fraud and intimidation whilst continuing to spend up large on holidays and buying up lavish apartment complexes in New York.
“Mainstreams collapsing economy was a major concern of voters during voting” said political reporter Ryan Allan ”People are going thirsty , there is no beer to drink in our chilly bins anymore and what was once the region's breadbasket of cheap booze, is now a baron waste land, the whole thing is a huge conspiracy for Bothma’s refusal to address Mainstreams main issues of soaring inflation rates and lack of income from fines which has only resulted in putting jug prices out of reach for everyone but himself”
On Monday Bothma addressed world leaders at a UN summit in Rome on the beer crisis against a backdrop of sharp criticism over his participation and defended his policy of seizing farms from whites. Some delegations, including those of the United States, Britain and the Netherlands, said they wouldn't talk to Bothma at the summit.
Although police granted permission for Sutherland to hold rallies this week, Bothmas WAN-KA party ordered the army to camp on the grounds of the venues, the opposition said. At least two of Sutherlands rallies were banned on security grounds by police, who said they could not guarantee his safety.
