After toiling away in district representitive cricket from an early age Bevan finally made the step up to top level cricket, at which time he promptly gave up the game to live in a permanent stage of inebriation in Dunedin for a couple of years. After moving to the big smoke of Whangaparoa Bevan was talked into picking up the bat again with the promise of a quality team mates, top competiition and first class grounds. Unfortunately, with the recssion on, sponsorship money was lost and the other 10 players couldnt be secured so he had to settle for Mainstream.
